i-Link was very excited to attend the 2015 AMSRS National Conference in the first week of September and this year’s event at the Sydney Hilton felt like one of the most successful in recent memory. It was extra special this year, as Australia’s largest research community celebrated their 60th birthday. The AMSRS team and conference committee once again delivered an impeccably organised event with a diverse range of expert speakers, an engaged audience and a great venue.
Each year the conference provides an excellent opportunity to look at how the research industry is shifting, evaluate where we’ve come from and assess what the new focuses on the horizon should be. This year, it was nice to again see an interactive approach to the way we discuss these topics as an industry. It was fantastic to see such a high level of engagement across the keynote speeches, panels and breakout sessions. It’s also very exciting to see both familiar faces and new ones throughout the course of the conference.
The theme of the conference this year was “The Power and the Passion”. A range of highly respected speakers spoke on a variety of topics. For further background on all the keynote speakers as well as the topic of their presentations feel free to visit this here:
The highlight of the conference was undoubtedly the captivating session with Todd Sampson, “Brain Power”. Todd not only took us behind the scenes of this extraordinary scientific journey, he also provided us with the practical tools, strategies and techniques to improve our brains. We are all capable of more than we realise … and modern science is showing us how!
All in all, it was a great few days, and we are very happy to have been a part of it. We’re looking forward to next year’s event already!
